ARC ART RENEWAL CENTER
This claims to be “the largest on-line Museum … steadily expanding with thousands of high quality images of the
greatest paintings and sculpture in history … an encyclopedic collection of essays, biographies and articles
by top scholars in the field.” The many pictures are for online viewing only, and there is also a commercial
side to the site selling a variety of art-related products.

ART-WORK OF MIDDLE EARTH
These pages are devoted to the artwork of Alan Lee and John Howe, and are part of the much larger site,
The Mirror of Galadriel devoted to J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
Both Alan Lee and John Howe are most famous for their visualisations of Tolkien's world, and they were both
Concept Designers for the Lord of the Rings films. There is a wide selection of their Tolkien-inspired work on view here.

The Beinart International Surreal Art Collective is “an ever-expanding gallery of surrealist, psychedelic,
esoteric, outsider, fantastic, toy, lowbrow, comic, erotic and visionary artists.” It shows the work of
internationally renowned artists with that of lesser known artists, and also sells prints and art books.

DEVIANT ART
This is an ever-expanding gallery of digital and traditional art, photography, film and animation, design and many
other visual arts. Members upload their work which inevitably varies greatly in quality, but there are some excellent
images in all categories, and many of the photographs can be used for other purposes with or without attribution.

DIGITAL ART
Digitalart.org, is a massive online gallery of digital artwork by artists from all over the world. It aims
‘to provide artists with a place to share their digital creations, receive feedback, grow their talent,
and interact with other artists and visitors.’ There are thousands of high-quality pictures in a wide variety
of styles, which are divided into categories like Abstract, Fan Art, Cartoons, Fantasy, Science Fiction and Nature.

ELFWOOD
This is a huge site dedicated to Fantasy and Science Fiction art and literature,displaying several thousand works of art.
It is a free-to-join site, giving new and upcoming artists an opportunity to publish
their material. The quality of the work varies, but much of it is excellent, covering
a huge range of styles and media. It also contains a Fantasy Art Resource Project, which is
a free and extremely useful guide to the techniques used by artists and writers
of Elfwood in the creation of their work.

EPILOGUE FANTASY ART
This is an online gallery of thousands of fantasy, horror and science fiction artists and illustrators.
Anyone can submit pictures to the site, and, although they have to be approved for display, the style and quality of the work
varies considerably. Nevertheless, there is a lot of work by many very talented artists on display, and it is well worth a visit if
you are interested in any kind of fantasy art.

ERROL LE CAIN
This site is dedicated to the published works of the illustrator Errol Le Cain whose unique style enhanced
a whole series of fairy tales and other children’s books from the 1960s to the 1980s. The site lists all
the books illustrated by him (now sadly out of print) and has a selection of pictures from each. These
give a clear idea of the artist’s adaptable style which was tailored to the requirements of each book.

FANTASY ART
This Italian site, has a huge section devoted to the work of fantasy artists (scroll down the page to find their names).
The pages of thumbnails, all of which can be viewed in larger versions, cover a wide range of painters
and styles, and it would be difficult not to find something of interest for the fantasy artist. Some of the artists
included on this site are Alan Lee and John Howe, Rodney Matthews, Frank Frazetta, Chris Achilleos,
Darrel Sweet, Boris Vallejo, Larry Elmore and Ted Nasmith.

FANTASY ART AT JARLING-ARTS
Uwe Jarling is a hugely talented artist in the field of fantasy painting, and this site is the showcase for his work,
in a variety of categories from Fantasy and Science Fiction through Horror and Romance to Cartoon and Logos.
He works almost exclusively in the digital medium, and achieves some stunning results, which often look as if they are
oil paintings. As well as a gallery of his work, the site also contains several turorials explaining how
he achieves his effects.

FANTASY FINE ART
This site advertises itself as presenting pictures of “Beautiful women and heroic men, and beautiful men and heroic women.
And some monsters.” It contains a range of very high quality fantasy paintings by many different artists, some of them
famous names, like Frank Frazetta, Rodney Matthews and Larry Elmore. Their work is presented in galleries of thumbnails
which can be enlarged for more detailed inspection. A link to the artists' website is provided with each fantasy artwork.

This site showcases the work of Brian Froud with a biography of the
artist and a selection of his pictures. There is also information about his books, exhibitions and
book signings, FAQ and links to other Froud-related sites.
It is a simple and well-organised site which is easy to
navigate, and presents an excellent cross-section of the artist's work. If you are
looking for high quality examples of Froud's paintings, this is a good place to start.

ILLUSTRATORS
This site contains illustrated biographies
of over one hundred book illustrators from E. A. Abbey to N. C. Wyeth. Each page contains a biography, illustrations, and
references, giving a good idea of the life and work of the particular artist.
Anyone interested in illustrated books from the past and the present will find something worthwhile on this site,
which goes a long way to demonstrate that illustrators are as talented and accomplished as so-called "fine" artists.

According to the creator, ‘The purpose of this site is to delight and expand the imagination of all who view it.’

THE SUR LA LUNE FAIRY TALE ILLUSTRATION GALLERY
On this site are over 1,200 illustrations of popular fairy tales by over 40 illustrators including Edmund Dulac, Kay Nielsen,
Arthur Rackham and W. Heath Robinson. In each case there is a page of thumbnails which can be clicked on to see enlarged
versions of the illustrations, together with publication information about the books in which they appeared.

THE UNOFFICIAL FRANK FRAZETTA FANTASY ART GALLERY
This site comprises a huge collection of paintings and drawings by Frank Frazetta. For those who
are fans of this artist's enormously vivid paintings of fantasy worlds populated by humans and monsters,
this site is a must.
It is very simple and well-organised, with thumbnails of all Frazetta's pictures, which lead to very
good-quality enlargements of considerable size. They are organised into categories, and the section entitled Paintings contains most of the high-quality images
all together.

This site contains a collection of imaginative and spectacular art, wallpapers, art fractals and mandalas which
range from the stunningly beautiful to the weird and horrific. The images can be enlarged and the wallpapers
are of a very high quality and cover a wide range of subjects and styles.

This is an image manipulation site which runs daily contests and has galleries of all the entries produced.
Thousands of artists enter the competitions to create sometimes spectacular digital art using a wide range
of source material. Entries appear under the general headings of Photoshop, Photography, Multimedia and Text,
and there are also many very useful Photoshop tutorials on a wide variety of digital painting techniques.
